Gordon Osmond is the author of "The Scales", which won First Prize in the John Gassner Memorial Playwriting Competition sponsored by the New England Theatre Conference. Manhattan Mirror theatre critic Brad Bradley stated: "Osmond is a talent to watch; his play offers some of the best writing heard in any performing medium in years".
Osmond's "Patient Target" was originally produced at the Westbeth Theatre Center in New York City. It was most recently produced at Playwrights' Forum in Memphis and read at MUSE 2000 in San Diego.
Osmond's "Fertile Deception" was originally produced by the North Carolina School of the Arts and at various other theatres throughout the country. The Raleigh News and Observer stated: "I kept thinking, Wouldn't Noel Coward have loved to have been able to write something this open and unashamed in his time?" The play ran for three weeks in San Diego in the Spring of 2002.
"What's It All About, Albee?" was hailed by the New Times as "an original comic nightmare. . . an avant-garde play that mocks avant-garde plays" and by the Telegram Tribune as "mind-enhancing. . . thoughtful yet entertaining, an excellent combination bound to bring it recognition."
In addition to his full length-comedies, "Queen of Sheba" and "Cut", Osmond has written a dinner theatre mystery comedy called "Viva La Muerte" and a mystery drama called "The Hostage Heart" which was chosen for production by OnStage Playhouse in San Diego CA and read as a contest winner in New York City. His latest play, "First Family" was selected by the Stella Adler Theatre in Hollywood for inclusion in the 2001 Festival sponsored by the Alliance of Los Angeles Playwrights and was read as a contest winner by the Long Beach Playhouse.
Osmond appears in "Who's Who in America" between the listings of his cousins, Donny and Marie. He teaches creative writing in San Diego and conducts playwriting lectures and workshops in that area.
